THOMAS AND MCKENNA WIN IN MDI!

The eleventh time trial of the series was held in Mount Desert Island on a moderate hilly 13.74, and 34 racers completed the course including three teenagers, a 75 year old, two first time time trialists and tandem riders.

Fred Thomas of Cape Elizabeth dominated the course averaging a fast speed of 27.4 mph winning first place with a time of 30:42. Local favorite Richard Balderelli of Southwest Harbor placed second with a time of 33:40 and Patrick Barter of Harvard, MA took third finishing the course in 35:16.

The women's division was very close with only 18 seconds separated the top three women who all raced the course with speeds averaging above 22 mph. Claire McKenna of Harvard, MA won the race with a time of 37:23, Chessell McGee of Cumberland placed second with a time of 37:35 and Erin Brennan of Portland finished only six seconds later in a time of 37:41 taking third.
