HICKEY AND MCGEE WIN IN BELFAST IN THE RAIN

 

Dreary weekend weather kept many people home but the rain did not stop 34 diehard racers from heading to Belfast to compete in the fifth time trial of the Maine Time Trial Series. This time trial was sponsored by the Belfast Bicycle Club and took racers on a fast and challenging out and back 16.2 mile course.

 

The men had a tight competition with Dan Hickey taking his first win of the series with a time of 38:10 and beating second place finisher Harris Navelski by one second. Richard Balderelli took third with a time of 38:55. (For those of you wondering, Fred Thomas had the misfortune of flatting and could not complete the course.)

 

In the women’s division, Chessell McGee won the race with a time of 41:35, Erin Brennan crossed the finish line in 42:44 placing second, and Ashley Stanton took third with a time of 44:35.
